Each fall, Holyoke Community College recognizes the academic excellence of students who have achieved a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, or higher, after completing a minimum of 30 semester hours of work at HCC. These students are invited to join the international honor society Phi Theta Kappa and are recognized at Convocation. Congratulations to them for all their hard work!

Orientation Leaders at HCC are a select group of students chosen for their academic standing (minimum GPA of a 3.0), strong leadership and public speaking skills. The primary role of an Orientation Leader is to provide guidance and facilitate New Student Orientation activities before the start of each academic semester. Select students have been named to the Spring 2016 Dean's List at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.

Husson University is pleased to announce the Spring 2016 Honors List. Students who earn Honors List recognition must carry at least 12 graded credit hours during the semester and earn a grade point average of between 3.4 to 3.59 during the period.

Assumption College has announced that 561 students named to the College's undergraduate Dean's List for the spring 2016 semester. To earn a spot on the Dean's List, Assumption students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 for a five-class, 15-credit semester. The Dean's List is announced twice every academic year, once at the completion of the fall semester, and again at the completion of the spring semester. "The Dean's List is a recognition of students who have attained significant academic achievements," said Assumption College President Francesco Cesareo, Ph.D. "The College is proud to formally recognize its top scholars whose dedication, hard work and commitment to their studies, are forming them to become effective leaders whom others will seek to emulate.

Each Spring, Holyoke Community College recognizes students with honors and awards for outstanding achievement and performance in a wide array of academic areas and extracurricular pursuits. These students are receiving awards for the 2015-2016 academic year and will be honored at a ceremony on May 25 in HCC's Leslie Phillips Theater. Congratulations!

693 students received a degree, including 463 Bachelor of Arts degrees; 187 graduate studies degrees and certificates; and 43 Continuing and Career, during Assumption College's 99th Commencement exercises on Saturday, May 7. Carolyn Woo, Ph.D., CEO of Catholic Relief Services (CRS), delivered the commencement address. Honorary degrees were conferred upon Dr. Woo; Dr. James O'Connell, president of Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program; and Assumption alumni Dr. Fred Bayon '65, Board Chair Emeritus, and Michael Tsotsis '71, Trustee Emeritus. Francesco C. Cesareo, Ph.D., president of Assumption College, congratulated the graduates and reminded them that the values they have had instilled in them over the last four years are ones that will continue to shape their lives and guide them as they serve their purpose in the world.

Every Spring, the HCC Fine Arts Department holds a Student Art Exhibition and nominates several dozen students for a variety of awards. The exhibition runs through May 5. Award winners will be announced Thurs., April 14, during a reception in the HCC Library lobby from 7 to 9 p.m.

Psi Beta is a national honors society in psychology for community colleges, recognized by the American Psychological Association, the leading scientific and professional organization for psychology in the United States.

Holyoke Community College is proud to announce its Green Key Honor Society members for the 2015-2016 school year. The Green Key Honor Society is a leadership and service organization dedicated to representing HCC at community and college events. Members serve the entire college community as tour guides, hosts, and ushers at special events such as orientation, college fairs, and information sessions.
